What happens when tourists, one of them a journalist, go on an outing in the Australian Outback and get's to make fun of hungry crocodiles? Of course, one of the crocodiles get angry and decides to make a meal of them. You've watched the scenario before in other movies. First, the tourists are shown having a good time, then fear sets in as the crocs attack, then for some reason, they get trapped somewhere and gets stalked by a one... a big one!
It's a bad time for tourists in the movies these days. They are almost always the victims of madmen, cults, and ghosts. This movie, "Hatchet," written and directed by Adam Green, has no qualms about instilling more fear into the hearts of tourists off to find excitement in some pretty odd places. The story moves around visitors to a haunted swamp in New Orleans. They find themselves stranded for the night, and that's when the real fun begins. Hatchet is said to be old-school American style horror with a dash of comedy. Kind of like a hotdog left in the fridge for too long.
