British Gymnast Alison Carrol as New Lara Croft Image Model

For most of us, Angelina Jolie comes to mind when we hear "Lara Croft." But that's just for the movies. For the video game, image models are hired who literally play the sexy adventurer in promotions. Actress Rhona Mitra was the first model endorser back in 1997 (left). That was nine years ago. Now, it's British gymnast, Alison Carrol who dons the boots and big double guns.

Carrol (top) has 12 years of gymnastics training and can literally do the jumping and twirling stunts of the character she portrays. Aside from that, she also underwent a crash course in weapons and academic archaeology training. When you have to be realistic, the guys at video game company Eidos leaves no stone unturned.

Quarantine Horror Movie Screams "Watch Me!"

What's in a scream? This poster of Quarantine, the movie inspired by Evil Dead, Resident Evil, Blair Witch Project, and Silent Hill says a lot. One is that there's video involved, the other is that it's all about fear. This one stars Jennifer Carpenter whose best known for her signature movie screams and her role as a possessed girl in The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Horror fans would love to watch this - but only if they can bear the fright.

Plumber is Hero in Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer

What is it with plumbers that make them heroic? How many times have they saved the world (of movies) from going down the drain?

Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer has another plumber for a hero, albeit a reluctant one. But circumstances around him forces him to do what must be done. And that's to slay monsters - monsters that used to be people.

This movie makes use of an old but still effective plot. In terms of concept, well, we've seen it before, but let's admit it, it's still a popcorn movie that can be fun to watch with your friends!

Then again, it's plainly another movie where someone turns into a monster and infects other people. Yes, it's got tentacles (no doubt inspired by hentai anime) and other gross stuff of transformation. It will not appeal to all people, but fans of horror films will love it even if it's just for Robert Englund, whom we all know played Freddie Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street. It also features Trevor Matthews and Rachel Skarsten (left).

You wouldn't wish zombies to come after you, but you'll certainly go after this plastic RC zombie that's controlled from a brain! Supplies are limited, so order now!

What's UP with Disney and Pixar?

Disney and Pixar are up to their usual unconventional ideas and story crafting with their new 3D movie, UP. The title is very general and hardly gives us a clue to what the story about. But the trailer - which shows a cabin and an old codger hoisted up into the air by balloons coming out of the chimney - says it all. Though not much to go on, the idea of a house that takes to the air with carnival balloons already gives a lot of possibilities for fun and adventure.

Voldemort's Nose was Normal in Childhood

Have you ever wondered why the adult Lord Voldemort's nose is squashed the way it is? Actually, his look is supposed to resemble that of a snake as he was transformed into an evil sorcerer after he lost his body after failing to destroy Harry Potter and his Avada Kedavra spell rebounded. But, as a child, it was normal, as the still from one of the movie teasers of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince shows.

It's a movie that reveals details about Voldemort's childhood, but it's advised that viewers should watch the other previous movies first to know what's happening in this one. It's easy to miss a few dialogues and then you wonder what's going on. It's better if you have read the books, but then there's less thrill in watching.

Voldemort is one of those villains that will go down into history like Star War's Darth Vader. He wasn't always evil - he only had the tendency towards that as a child and it was what he embraced. The character is a reminder to us all that there is a choice between what's good... and what's easy.

What do you know about The Deathly Hallows?

This Voldemort (aka Tom Riddle) dark wizard statue of actor Ralph Fiennes is one collector's item every Harry Potter fan should have. The detail is amazing and it even has it's own fabric costume! Click here or on the image to purchase.
