Here's another one from Robert Rodriguez! It's a spin-off from a bogus Grindhouse trailer and inspired by powerful characters in his previous movies like Desperado. It stars Danny Trejo as the lead character who we've seen before in other character incarnations with knives under his coat. In this movie, he carries machetes - lots of them! They're big, too! We can only imagine what he's going to use them for.
Machete also stars Jessica Alba who plays Sartana. She gives the estrogen in this movie opposite the testosterone of craggy-faced Trejo. But with that gin in her hand, she might as well give the adrenaline. This movie is all Rodriguez as we remember how his early movies were. Like Desperado, this one makes the best of Latin American culture, imagery, and sensuality, which can only be described as hot as salsa. It should be deliciously addictive.

Barbarella Movie to Be Directed by Robert Rodriguez

Robert Rodriguez will be directing the 2008 version of the classic 1968 B movie, Barbarella, a sci-fi action flick the likes of which will appeal to fans of Heavy Metal magazine. The original starred Jane Fonda as a sexy mercenary and was produced by Dino de Laurentiis, the same guy who gave us the Sindbad series and Flash Gordon. The new movie will be penned by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade of Casino Royale fame. It will be produced by Martha De Laurentiis.
According to Rodriguez, "I love this iconic character and all that she represents, and I'm truly excited by the challenge of inviting a new audience into her universe." Dino De Laurentiis says of the remake: "In our vision, the future is female, and I can't wait to introduce 'Barbarella' to a new generation of moviegoers," he said.
Barbarella first appeared in a French comic book written and illustrated by Jean-Claude Forest.

Racy Pictures from Grindhouse
Here are more pictures from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse. Tarantino says as he pours a glass of liquor, "C'mon. You know you want to see them."
Yeah, right. What's he doing in the bottom picture, anyway? Using a girl as a tripod?

Grindhouse Movie Promises Fresh Yet Classic Treats

Grindhouse is a B-movie of B-movies. But it's a slick one, and something that audiences may want to experience for the sheer thrill of it. And it's not just one thrill, but two! Yes, it's two movies in one, both independently directed by no qualms directors Robert Rodriguez of "Desperado" fame and Quentin Tarantino of the "Kill Bill" movies. Rodriguez's opus in the movie is "Planet Terror," a world that is earilly similar to ours but twisted in many psychologically delectable ways. Tarantino's segment is titled "Death Proof" which is about a killer who uses his pimped-up car as a weapon to hunt his victims. So, what's a jaded audience to see in this movie that seems to be fill of old Hollywood cliches? Well, look at some of these promotional posters and see if you won't be tempted to see how it turns something old fresh and, well, worth the price of a theater ticket for a much deserved escape from reality. At any rate, you'll know why it's titled "Grindhouse." More Grindhouse pictures in the next post.
